Childhood

I miss my childhood
Where no one was shrewd
All played all day
And aside worries lay

I miss my childhood
When everything felt good
Except when the exams came
Leaving play felt so lame

I miss my childhood
When life wasn't so crude
Even when told a thing or two
I forgot 'em as if they weren't true

I miss my childhood
When joy was life's food
Nothing else mattered
Except when friendships shattered

I was told to grow up
And I did what was tough
Bidding adieu to purity
Leaving behind incorruptibility

Many moons have shone since
The day when I dreamt becoming 'Prince'
Now I'm told to join a race
Running a pointless chase

Good were the days when I could cry
For I can't anymore even if I try
All that well up within
Remain under a cloak so clean

I miss my childhood
When nobody told lie
When to be happy
I didn't have to try.

  6. Quite a nostalgic trip Anupam :)
Reminds of mine as well. So how were you as a child? mischievous or silent and introvert?

    Regards

    1. Oh, I was very introvert when I was a child. I used to run away from interacting with people. Things are better now.

Thank you Jay, for reading my poem.

Why don't you tell us about your childhood too. It'd great to know about it.

    2. Well, basically, even I was quite an introvert in childhood. I would feel very uncomfortable in the company of strangers, friends were acceptable. Only for outsiders, though, at home I was the king of the jungle :) :) :)
For me too, it has improved considerably now.

      Regards

    1. The world's changing ..err. sorry it's modernizing. That has brought along with it dazzlingly diverse gadgets, with their fingers right on the nerves of the present families' dilemmas. Who's got time to visit the villages, run on the fields under the sun and rain, pluck ripe fruits from the lap of nature itself and devour it then and there. Where are the fields where we used to bath in dust while playing.

Now it's all laptops, PCs, Xboxes, Sms's..........

One of the reasons why I too feel sorry for them.

Thanks for reading TTT. I'm glad that I made you nostalgic
